Victoria O'Dea is a third-year PhD student at Loyola University Chicago studying English with a focus on nineteenth-century transatlantic literature and culture. She's particularly intrigued by the intersections and liminal spaces between private and public documents—such as letters—that make up the subtext of our modern lives. In many ways, Victoria's research and pedagogical interests revolve around the act of writing. She is invested in understanding how writers use the act of writing to articulate ideas, produce meaning, and develop a sense of self. Victoria believes in finding ways to make writing accessible and enjoyable for all students, and she values the Writing Center as a space to explore and demystify the writing process. When Victoria's not actively engaged in writing, you can find her curled up on the couch with her cat and a book or playing Mario Kart with her husband Bryan.
