Women's Studies & Gender Studies is proud to offer a new Summer global faculty-led program in BARCELONA, SPAIN!

WSGS 201: Iberian Identity, Gender & (Im)migration

This course is designed to introduce students to intellectual and socio-cultural frameworks that shape our thoughts about gender identity and sexuality. While in Spain, students will experience guest lectures by local scholars and activists, private film viewings and round table discussions of contemporary Spanish and Catalán films, a one-day visit to a celebrated LGBTI International Film Festival held every year in June in Barcelona.

Graduate Study Abroad Opportunities


Loyola University Chicago School of Social Work is creating ways to better prepare our students for practice with immigrant communities. Some of the programmatic options offered to students are:

  • first and second year summer block field placements in Chiapas, Mexico
  • border immersion course during Spring break
  • and 2-week long summer immersion course in Mexico City in collaboration with the Universidad Iberoamericana, ITESO - the Jesuit University of Guadalajara, and Jesuit Migrant Services of Mexico.
