Dr. Abha Rai - Research on Help-Seeking Behavior of South Asian Women

Our affiliate faculty member Dr. Abha Rai recently produced an article on the help-seeking behaviors of South Asian women in domestic violence. This article is a literature overview of the current empirical studies and looks to examine these behaviors in relation to socio-cultural factors. 

Dr. Abha Rai is an Assistant Professor for the School of Social Work and Associate Director, Center for Immigrant and Refugee Accompaniment (CIRA) here at Loyola. She spent over ten years working with community-based organizations, mainly in rural and urban India, and has continued this work in Chicago for the last few years. Through this work, Dr. Rai now takes a community-centered approach in her research. Dr. Rai is passionate about immigrant and refugee well-being issues, with a focus on domestic violence. She also serves on the City of Chicago’s Gender-Based Violence Strategic Plan Research Advisory Group to help shape what Chicago needs to support survivors.
