What is S-L?
SL101: Lesson One
Service-Learning is a way of teaching and learning that offers you the chance to do real good in the community while learning more about your academic course content. Every semester, Loyola offers 40-50 service-learning courses across all the university's majors and schools. All designated service-learning classes also fulfill the University's Engaged Learning requirement.
Because they integrate meaningful community service experiences into the learning experience, service-learning classes offer you the possibility of developing personal, professional, and civic skills that a more traditional class might not address. Watch this video to learn:
- What service-learning is
- The kinds of things you can DO in service-learning classes
- What you can hope to learn from a service-learning class...above and beyond your normal academic experience!
