Departmental Honors
The School of Business Administration (SBA) offers departmental honors in the following departments with the requirements for each as listed. Departmental honors are available to students with majors in SBA. Students must apply to a department for honors consideration. Contact the chairperson of the specific department for more information.
Accounting: Student must be an accounting major with a GPA of at least 3.5 in all accounting courses. In addition, the student must complete two honors contracts* in accounting major courses.
Economics: Student must be an economics major with a GPA of at least 3.5 in all economics courses and a 3.2 GPA overall. In addition, the student must complete two honors contracts* in elective courses in the economics major.
Finance: Student must be a finance major with a GPA of at least 3.5 in all finance courses. In addition, the student must complete a thesis contracted with a professor in the finance department.
Information Systems: Student must be an information systems major with a GPA of at least 3.5 in all information systems courses. In addition, the student must complete a thesis contracted with a professor in the Information Systems & Operations Management Department.
Management: Student must be a management major with a GPA of at least 3.5 in all management courses and a 3.2 GPA overall. In addition, the student must complete two honors contracts* in courses in the management major.
Marketing: Student must be a marketing major with a GPA in all marketing courses of at least 3.5 and an overall GPA of at least 3.2. In addition, the student must complete two honors contracts* in the marketing major.
Operations Management: Student must be an operations management major with a GPA of at least 3.5 in all operations management courses. In addition, the student must complete a thesis contracted with a professor in the Information Systems & Operations Management Department.
*Honors Contract: A student may arrange with an instructor, subject to department chair approval, to perform a specified kind and quality of course-related work that all participants in the agreement regard as appropriate for honors credit. A grade of “B” or better is required in the contracted course.
