Making school discipline
more effective
Students in the School of Law’s Education Law
and Policy Institute partnered with Loyola’s
School of Education and local nonprofit
organizations to launch the

School Discipline Collaborative
(TSDC). The
TSDC is an interdisciplinary team of attorn ys,
school psychologists, policy adv ates, and
community partners dedicated to supporting
districts and schools in implementing
equitable and non-exclusionary discipline
practices. In April, the team released a Model
Student Code of Conduct and other resources
to help schools implement disciplinary
reforms in line with a new state law enacted
this fall. Loyola also obtained Illinois State
Board of Education approval to offer seminars
on discipline for school administrators.
