LOYOLA UNIVERSITY CHICAGO SCHOOL OF LAW (2015-16 DEAN'S ANNUAL REPORT) - page II-1

I
t’s my pleasure to share highlights of the
Loyola University Chicago School of Law
2015–16 academic year. In furtherance of
our vital Jesuit tradition of educating exceptional
and ethical attorneys dedicated to the service
of others, the law school has made great
strides this past year in leadership, scholarship,
preparation for practice, and public service. This
year, we proudly welcomed the most diverse
incoming class in the school’s history.
Our Centers of Excellence in health law,
advocacy, and child and family law continue to
gain national and international recognition for
their tremendous faculty and comprehensive
curricula. Loyola is a national leader in online and
blended learning degree programs. Our other
renowned institutes and programs pursue justice
through rule of law development, public interest
work, education, financial and tax regulation
and literacy, national security, international law
and practice, investor protection, and consumer
antitrust law. We have also successfully launched
a game-changing Weekend JD program, which
allows us to offer Loyola’s top-ranked JD to an
even broader and more diverse group of highly
qualified law students.
Through their groundbreaking teaching,
scholarship, and numerous contributions to the
School of Law and the legal community, our
outstanding faculty members provide students
with a rigorous and values-focused education
while strengthening our school’s reputation for
academic excellence and expertise.
Our innovative, learner-centered curriculum
builds upon ethical values, core competencies,
professional skills, and experiential learning.
Numerous hands-on learning opportunities help
our students build high-level skills that smooth the
transition between law school and practice.
Many School of Law initiatives demonstrate
Loyola’s commitment to knowledge in the
service of humanity through social justice and care
for vulnerable and underrepresented individuals
and groups. In our public interest pursuits
and other efforts, we draw upon the strong
partnerships we’ve forged with professional and
community organizations here in Chicago, one of
the world’s greatest cities.
As we move ahead together, I look forward
to combining our efforts to deepen our school’s
wonderful traditions, build upon its great
strengths, and celebrate exciting new initiatives.
