Laurie Braga


Laurie Jordan has been at Loyola since 1997. A lifelong mathematics educator, Laurie currently directs the Math and Statistics Learning Center at Loyola and also serves as the advisor for College of Arts and Sciences students seeking teaching certification. Her classroom experience runs the gamut from pre-school through high school, as well as in undergraduate and graduate courses taught at Loyola and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

In addition to her directing and advising duties, Laurie has taken the lead in coordinating our middle school math endorsement sequence for inservice teachers. Currently, Laurie is co-PI on a grant from the Boeing Corporation designed to provide 20 CPS middle school math teachers with a sequence of six math courses to allow them to achieve their endorsement to teach middle school math.

Ms. Jordan earned a B.S. in Mathematics from Illinois State University, an M.S. in Management and Organizational Behavior from Benedictine University, and an M.S. in the Teaching of Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Chicago. From 1991 until 1998, Ms. Jordan served as Assistant to the Director of the Office of Mathematics and Computer Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Football season finds her working weekends as a certified official for high school football games. She is married and has five children.
