SEPUP (Science Education for Public Understanding Program) is a research based
science curriculum for grades 7 and 8 designed at the Lawrence Hall of Science
in Berkeley, CA. This curriculum has been adopted by Chicago Public Schools (CPS)
to be the standard science curriculum for these grades throughout the Chicago
system.
The Center for Science and Math Education (CSME) at Loyola University has been selected
as the SEPUP implementation site for Chicago Public Schools. Loyola science faculty
work with CPS teachers to provide training for new users of the
curriculum as well asto provide advanced training for experienced users.
Loyola faculty work closely with CPS faculty for intense
summer workshops to train new users in SEPUP.
In addition to summer training, CSME helps coordinate and provide continuing
training throughout the year, and also furnishes logistical and material support
for teachers and schools using the SEPUP curriculum. If you are using SEPUP in your classroom, or
