Attend on either June 19th (Discover Loyola Session 3) or July 17th (Discover Loyola 6)!

Congratulations again on your decision to attend Loyola University Chicago!

The Department of Student Diversity & Multicultural Affairs would like to officially welcome you to Loyola, and hope that you will consider attending one of our upcoming Minority Student Receptions for students and parents.

Join us on Thursday, June 19 (during Discover Loyola Session 3) or on Thursday, July 17 (Discover Loyola Session 6), for dessert at 7:15 p.m. to:

  • Meet our staff as well as other staff and faculty colleagues who play an integral role in mentoring our students of color on campus.
  • Hear about various opportunities available to you as a first-year student of color.

At these receptions, you will also have a chance to sign up for our Students Together Reaching Are Reaching Success (STARS) program, a signature department program. If you choose to participate, you will:

  • Be paired with an upper-class peer mentor, who will help you find your place in the Loyola community and help you get to know the Chicago area. Your mentor will also work with you to as well as to develop your personal, academic, social and cultural experiences through programming and tutoring.
  • Have an opportunity to move to campus early to attend the Summer Transition Conference, an orientation program that lets you experience Loyola's campus life from a cultural perspective.
  • Develop leadership skills and have research opportunities.
  • Be eligible to apply for financial scholarships of up to $1000, to help off-set tuition costs.

Please R.S.V.P. and let us know which session you'd like to attend. Call the Department of Student Diversity & Multicultural Affairs at 773.508.3335 or e-mail.  And, don't forget to register for the appropriate Discover Loyola session.

Warm wishes for an exciting summer,

Kevin Huie

P.S.  If you are unable to attend one of the receptions but are interested in signing up for STARS or meeting with our staff, please let us know and we'll be happy to setup a time to meet with you during your Discover Loyola session.
