Principal Preparation for Current CPS Assistant Principals
Candidates admitted to this program will earn a Ed.D. in Administration & Supervision and Illinois Superintendent’s Endorsement (187) through Loyola University’s Chicago’s CPS Doctoral Principal Preparation Program.
The CPS Ed.D. Program in Administration & Supervision is designed for practicing CPS Assistant Principals holding a Type 75 General Administrative (186) certificate.
Loyola University Chicago’s CPS Ed.D. Program in Administration & Supervision provides selected candidates with: a rigorous curriculum and field experience, an opportunity to master CPS Principal Competencies obtained through coursework and field-based experiences conducted at the candidate’s place of employment, and a three-year intensive coaching model that supports the candidate for the four-year duration of the program.
Ed.D. candidates will be assigned a coach in the first semester of the program. The coaches support candidates as they meet CPS Principal Competencies. Coaches selected to work with Loyola Ed.D. candidates are former urban leaders with a history of transforming urban schools.
The CPS Ed.D. Program in Administration & Supervision curriculum offers a focused, in-depth coursework framework with coaching and immediate application for transforming urban schools to create increased student outcomes. Candidates also have the option to attend a two-week summer course at Loyola University’s Rome campus to develop global leadership perspectives.
