Welcome! Instructional Technology & Research Support (ITRS) is a service-oriented group committed to enriching the educational experience at Loyola University Chicago. Our mission is to assist faculty in their efforts to integrate technology into teaching, learning, and research for the purposes of improving the quality of education at Loyola. Hours of operation run parallel to when classes are in session and ITRS staff are readily-available for consultation at both lakeside campuses. Drop-in support locations include Corboy Law Center (605, 731-732), Granada Center (240, 290), and Information Commons (204).
The primary function of ITRS is to meet the teaching, learning, and research needs of Loyola faculty. Services and support for Loyola students, staff, alumni, and outside guests may also be available depending on the type of request and impact on limited resources. - support and maintenance for centrally controlled electronic classrooms and learning spaces.
- administration and support for statistical computing computing applications and online survey software.
- consultation and training on most educational technologies.
- consultation on the development of classroom materials.
- assistance with the planning for refresh and development of new technology-equipped learning spaces.
- general maintenance for digital signage.
- limited support and maintenance for learning spaces at Cuneo Mansion and Loyola's Retreat & Ecology Campus.
The best way to request assistance from ITRS is to contact the Help Desk at ext. 8-4ITS or firstname.lastname@example.org. A ticket will be immediately opened for you and an ITRS staff member will contact you directly. Special requests for classroom support, video conferencing, or use of digital media resources should be submitted at least 72 hours in advance.
Please note that ITRS does not reserve rooms. You must make a request through Campus Reservations. Be sure to indicate your technology needs when completing the reservation form. Equipment and support for School of Law classrooms and events are arranged through Law School Computing Services. The School of Communication also provides some specialized technology support for classes and students. For more information, contact Jamason Chen at 5-6936 or email@example.com. Faculty can check out an i>clicker kit from ITRS on a per semester basis. Reservations should be made at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled pick-up time. Kits are also available on-site for check out during Focus on Teaching & Learning (FOTL) events at the beginning of each Fall and Spring semester. You must present a valid Loyola ID at time of pick-up.
Digital Media Services (DMS) operates a media lab on each of the lakeside campuses. Both locations offer a wide array of portable equipment available for check out to Loyola students, faculty, staff, and alumni. ITRS has developed a set of standards for electronic classrooms and learning spaces, and for digital signage. Both a Narrative and companion Equipment List are available for reference. These documents are updated every July for the following academic year.
