Computer Purchases
Dell, Apple, and Lenovo offer discounts to students, faculty and staff who wish to purchase equipment for personal use. Loyola recommends different configurations for these vendors. Select this link to reach the Dell, Apple, or Lenovo portal for purchases, and check out the recommendations link.
Computing Labs
Designated "open-access" computer labs are available for use by University students, faculty and staff. These labs are administered by Information Technology Services. Some are reservable for Loyola departments. Alumni wishing to use the machines should see a Digital Media Services advisor for further information. Select this link for more information about open-access labs.
Mini-hubs are rented to students if they live in a dorm which has fewer connections than residents living there, or have devices that need their own internet access. They can be checked out from the Digital Media Lab by completing a short agreement and are returned at the end of the academic year. Select this link for information on how to setup the mini-hub.
Network Jacks
Network and telephone jacks are available in all residence halls. Select this link for a diagram and layout of the jacks based on building location.
Telephones
Residence hall rooms do not have built-in telephone connectivity. Students who would like to have a single-line installed at no cost should contact the ITS Help Desk at (773) 508-4487. Student's will need to provide their own telephone and purchase a calling card for calls out of campus. Select this link for more information regarding telephones. If you have any questions, please contact Information Technology Services' Dave Wieczorek at dwieczo@luc.edu.
Wireless Locations
Loyola's wireless network provides all Loyola students, faculty, and staff with access to the Internet from multiple locations on campus. Students, faculty and staff can use their wireless-capable devices (laptop computers, PDAs, cell phones) for Internet connections without the need to plug into a network outlet. The network supports 802.11b and 802.11g wireless technology and 802.11a (from the loyola SSID). See a list of currently active wireless locations by clicking on the link above.
