About Us

The program of the Department of Theology is designed to provide students with resources for the analysis of religion; for investigation of the sources, historical development and contemporary practice of particular religious traditions; and for critical appropriation of personal faith and sympathetic appreciation of the beliefs of others. Although these resources are drawn principally from the Roman Catholic tradition, attention is directed to other Christian traditions as well as Judaism, Islam and eastern religions.

Theology may not be a requirement in whatever school or field to which you are planning to apply, but a student who has Theology on her/his transcript from a Jesuit University signals serious learning and a personal commitment to the search of life's most complex questions.
