Loyola law faculty members have built a reputation for
excellence in teaching, research, and policymaking.
Among the many achievements and milestones of School
of Law professors in 2013, here are a few highlights.

Loyola’s accomplished professors continue to contribute
John C. Dehn
New professor joins faculty after
distinguishedmilitary career
John C. Dehn joined the School of Law
this summer as an assistant professor.
He was most recently a senior fellow at
West Point Center for the Rule of Law. A
graduate of the US Military Academy at
West Point, Dehn has served as an airborne
artillery and logistics officer; an Army
judge advocate; and the Distinguished
Visiting Lecturer in American Public Policy
and Practice at Hamilton College, where
he taught a seminar on war powers. At
Loyola, he is teaching Criminal Investigative
Procedure this fall.
New faculty
Zelda B. Harris
Center for Advocacy welcomes new director
Zelda B. Harris joined the School of Law in 2012 as the new director of the nationally recognized Dan K. Webb Center for Advocacy.
Harris joined Loyola from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law, where she was an award-winning clinical
professor of law, as well as director of the Domestic Violence Clinic and codirector of the Child and Family Law Clinic. At Loyola, she
continues as an active faculty member of the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, and oversees all aspects of the advocacy program,
including curriculum development, program growth, and the Philip H. Corboy Fellowship Program in Trial Advocacy.
James T. Gathii
International trade law scholar
joins Loyola asWing-Tat Lee Chair
James T. Gathii (pictured on opposite
page) joined the School of Law in 2012
as the Wing-Tat Lee Chair in International
Law. He brings to Loyola a distinguished
record of scholarship, teaching, and prac-
tice in the field of international human
rights and international trade. Gathii most
recently served as the associate dean for
research and scholarship and the Governor
George E. Pataki Professor of International
Commercial Law at Albany Law School.
He has worked throughout his career
to establish legal and economic struc-
tures designed to prevent and remedy
human rights violations in Africa. Gathii
has published more than 60 articles and
book chapters, and two books,
African
Regional Trade Agreements as Legal Regimes
(Cambridge University Press, 2011) and
War,
Commerce, and International Law
(Oxford
University Press, 2010).

Cynthia Ho, who specializes in intellectual property law, recently spoke at several conferences on how to provide
individualized education for students and better incorporate skills training into teaching.
