About ACE

ACE Says Thank-You!

In ACE, we recognize that much of our work is made possible by assistance from talented students and staff members around campus. This is a brief survey to use any time an ACE Community Member wants to say a thank you to someone at Loyola University Chicago. This can be used.... • if a student wants to thank their ACE tutor; • if a student wants to thank another ACE student; • if a student wants to thank their professor for extra assistance; • if an ACE staff member wants to thank a campus partner; • if a student wants to thank a campus partner, such as staff in another office; • if a student's parent wants to thank a staff member; • the possibilities for thankfulness are endless!

ACE Grant Re-Awarded through 2020!

The Achieving College Excellence (ACE) Program team is thrilled to announce some fantastic news! After a several month long nationwide grant competition, Loyola University Chicago has been successful in obtaining an additional 5 years of funding for the continuation of ACE services! With a start date of September 1, 2015, funding of approximately 1.1 million dollars has been secured through August 31, 2020. ACE, a TRiO Student Support Services program, is part of a nationwide initiative designed and implemented through the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Postsecondary Education. In existence and constant development since the mid-1960s, TRiO has assisted countless first-generation, low-income, and students with disabilities in attaining a high school diploma and/or college degree(s). We are inspired to continue this legacy through ACE and hope you will stand with us in these efforts.

Activities Grant to Help Students

The Office of First Year Experience will be offering funds for students to use towards Loyola hosted events, such as intramural league fees, Rambler Outdoors activities, Loyola 360 retreats, and much more. After reviewing your eligibility based on your responses to the form, students may be asked to write a 1 page essay. Financial need will be based on reviewing your FAFSA.

ACE students joined in and learned! TRiO Day - 2015

Saturday, February 21 was National TRiO Day, so ACE scholars traveled to a conference at Northern Illinois University to celebrate. The group learned a lot about the history and importance of TRiO while listening to inspiring stories from TRiO staff, students, and alumni, all of whom attributed their success to the support they received in TRiO programs. ACE Scholars also attended an informative graduate school preparation workshop and brainstormed ideas for becoming more involved with high school TRiO students near Loyola University Chicago. Just as importantly, the scholars and staff grew closer to one another and had fun!

MCAT Tutors - now available!

ACE is proud to introduce our three new tutors - student workers who specialize in MCAT prep and medical school applications. Their bio's and introductory videos can be found by clicking the "MCAT Tutors - now available" heading above. They are available for appointments, which you can schedule via WC Online today!

Taking the GRE sometime soon?

Half off the cost of the GRE - here's how!

Many ACE Scholars are eligible for 50% off the cost of one GRE Test Registration (one General GRE Test and/or one Subject Test). For details, please read about the process here (links to Financial Aid's GRE Fee Reduction Program site). Please note, Financial Aid does not set the guidelines for this waiver, so if you aren't eligible, there are no appeal options. Also, expect the waiver processing to take some time, so you should start the process well in advance!
