Dean's Welcome

On behalf of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), I am pleased to welcome current and prospective students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff to the CAS Web site.

For the past 135 years, Loyola University Chicago's College of ArtsĀ and Sciences has upheld a strong commitment to liberal arts education, academic excellence, civic engagement and the development of authentic individuals who embody the Jesuit Catholic principle of cura personalis, or "care for the whole person." The college's extraordinary academic programs continue to make CAS an outstanding choice for undergraduate students pursuing study in the humanities, the sciences, and the social sciences.

CAS students benefit from classes taught by world-class faculty, who balance their commitment to teaching and one-on-one student interaction with distinguished research careers and service to the Chicago community. New state-of-the-art facilities, such as the Quinlan Life Sciences Education and Research Center, also provide students with unique opportunities to explore their interests and deepen their understanding of the world.

Throughout its history, CAS has prepared students to make a difference in their chosen careers. As the 21st century presents new challenges for the City of Chicago, the country, and the world, our commitment to preparing students to respond in imaginative and meaningful ways has not changed. I invite you to learn more about CAS on our Web site and to contact us for more information.
