Academic Courses
Auditing: Students may not attend any class for which they are not officially registered. Current students are not permitted to audit classes in the Graduate School of Business. However, GSB alumni may register for and audit classes on a space-available basis.
Transferring courses: The Admissions Committee considers transfer of graduate-level courses from AACSB-accredited institutions only. Courses with earned grades of B (or equivalent) will be considered for transfer credit. Courses credited toward a previous degree will not be credited toward a Graduate School of Business degree. Transfer credit will be applied to the student's academic program, but grades will not be calculated in their Loyola grade point average. A maximum of three graduate-level courses can be transferred into any Loyola GSB program. Current Loyola GSB students may not take outside courses toward a Loyola GSB degree without the written approval of the Assistant Dean. The Jesuit Business School Network (JEBNET) transfer program allows special accommodations for students transferring from most Jesuit graduate schools of business.
Waived and/or advanced courses(only applies to MBA & MSIMC students): The Admissions Committee will review all undergraduate and graduate-level transcripts as part of the admission process. Students admitted to the Loyola GSB will receive a curriculum planner with a list of all courses required for the program to which they are admitted. A student who has completed a minimum of two courses in a core area with a grade of B (or equivalent) or higher may be granted a waiver if determined appropriate by the Admissions Committee. A maximum of four core courses may be waived, and waivers are granted only for core courses.
Students with a significant academic background in business may be granted the opportunity to take advanced-level courses in place of the core courses. A maximum of four core courses may be advanced.
To request waiver or advancements, MBA students must meet with an academic advisor before beginning the academic coursework. It is assumed that a student not making a request for waivers or advancements by the sixth week of his/her first term will complete eighteen courses for the MBA.
Academic Standing
Students whose grade point average falls below 2.0 will be placed on academic probation. Students on probation must achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 2.33 (C+) in the next block of three courses. Students achieving a 2.33 GPA as specified can be continued on probation until a cumulative GPA of 2.0 is earned. Probationary students earning less than 2.33 as previously specified will be dismissed. Students dismissed are not eligible for readmission. Your overall cumulative GPA to graduate must be greater than or equal to a 2.0
Academic Status
Full-time and part-time:The GSB considers a full-time load to be three or four courses per quarter. Part-time students usually take one or two courses per quarter. The maximum course load per quarter is four courses (12 hours). Students wishing to take more than four courses in a quarter must request permission from the Assistant Dean.
Continuing status:GSB students who do not attend classes for two consecutive quarters will lose their continuing status and will need to apply for readmission to the GSB. Students who find it necessary to be out of school for two consecutive quarters will need to submit a Leave of Absence request to the GSB. Under most circumstances, readmission within one year will be granted.
Credit Hours
All GSB courses carry three semester hours of credit. Internships carry between one and three semester hours of credit.
Grading
The official grades of record in the GSB are: A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, F, P, I, W and WF.- Grades of C and above are passing grades that signify increasing levels of achievement. The C grade signifies satisfactory work, while an A signifies excellent work.
- Grades of D and D+ signify unsatisfactory performance but are nevertheless passing grades.
- An F indicates unsatisfactory work for which no course credit will be granted.
- P indicates "pass" with credit. The P grade will not be computed in the student's grade point average. Only internship courses are graded on a P/F basis.
- An I indicates that the course is incomplete. I grades must be approved by the GSB and must be removed prior to the end of the subsequent quarter; otherwise the incomplete is converted into a WF, failure. Unapproved I grades will be converted to WF.
- An X grade indicates that the final exam for the course has not been completed. Students have six weeks after the course has ended to complete the final exam. The grade of X will convert to a grade of F after six weeks.
- W indicates official withdraw from a course before the end of the quarter.
- WF is assigned for failure to remove an X or I grade. A course with WF is counted as attempted credit hours in the computation of academic standing.

Honors
GSB students with a GPA of 4.0 will be recognized with High Dean's Honors. Students with a GPA of 3.9 will be recognized with Dean’s Honors. Students with a 3.41 or above may be invited to apply for Beta Gamma Sigma, the Business Honors Society. Spring graduates may also be considered for Alpha Sigma Nu, the Jesuit Honors Society. The highest honor of the university, the President's Medallion, is awarded to one student in the School of Business Administration who exemplifies the Jesuit ideal.

| Third and fourth week of term | 50% |
| Fifth week of term | 20% |
