The Women’s Studies and Gender Studies Program brings together many different academic fields to study how gender, sexuality, race, and intersecting identities shape communities and cultures across the world. WSGS empowers students to amplify underrepresented voices and advocate for social justice by providing an expansive understanding of feminist scholarship, gender theory, and how to apply theory in practice—translating ideas into action.

Mary Griffin Graduate Scholarship for Women's Studies
The award is endowed in the name of Mary Griffin (1916-1998), a member of the order of the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (B.V.M.), who was an English professor at Mundelein College and, later, Loyola University Chicago. She was an innovator in education and an advocate for social justice, participating in both the Civil Rights Movement and the Feminist Movement in the 1970s. Please apply through the Loyola Scholarship Connection. Applications are due June 1.
