Leadership Essentials

Valuable and convenient skill-building sessions

Join us the first Tuesday of each month for “Leadership Essentials,” a workshop series designed to help you evaluate, improve, and strengthen your leadership acumen. Each master class covers a single leadership topic, such as Change Management or Hiring and Retaining Staff. During each two-hour session, Loyola faculty share expert leadership insights and practical management approaches stemming from their own industry experiences.

Sessions are held live, online from 9:00-11:00 a.m. CST.

Upcoming Classes

About the session: Preparing for change in this rapidly transforming and dynamic world has enormous benefits. Change normally fails because of human factors, not technical factors, as fluid strategies reflecting today’s dynamic business conditions can make communicating business objectives difficult. Change starts with a good reason, and it succeeds by taking on urgency. Without a customer, we have no business. If the customer changes, then we have to change or go out of business. This microlearning will help you learn the critical connection between Lean leadership and change for successful Lean implementations.

About the session: If there ever was a time that called for leaders to lead with empathy and demonstrate Emotional Intelligence, it certainly now. Leaders must strike a delicate balance between supporting the emotional well-being of their people during unprecedented times of uncertainty and fear and driving performance and productivity to ensure the survival of their organizations – all while dealing with complete and total disruption of their own lives. Talk about a crash course in Emotional Intelligence!

Emotional Intelligence is a term that is tossed around regularly these days, but what does it really mean? And, more importantly, what can you do to hone this critical leadership competency?

About the session: Cohesive and productive teams are the hallmark of any successful company, but good teams are not formed overnight.  To succeed, team managers and leaders must develop core competencies for managing the diverse challenges all teams face, including developing project plans that reflect individual strengths, coaching individuals toward shared goals and reviewing performance for continued improvement.

This short course will help you evaluate your approach to teamwork and introduce you to the power of coaching – allowing you to grow the capabilities and outcomes of each person on your team.
