Students Against Gun Violence (SAGV)
Students Against Gun Violence
Students Against Gun Violence (SAGV) is a student organization committed to actively engaging medical
students in critical conversations about gun violence. Our primary goal is to equip current and future
healthcare professionals with the knowledge and tools to address the impact of gun violence within
our society. Through sharing resources and statistics, hosting panels where physicians and community
members share their experiences we aim to educate, inspire, and advocate for change within our
communities.
In this organization, we prioritize:
- Educating the Stritch Community: Panels, workshops, and other educational opportunities will
be provided for the Stritch community to learn more about the complexities of gun violence.
Resources will be available to improve understanding and advocacy efforts. - Community and Professional Engagement: Host panels and events where physicians and
community members share their experiences with gun violence. Facilitate discussions on the
role of healthcare professionals in addressing gun violence. - Collaboration and Advocacy: Connect our efforts with other clubs and organizations within
Loyola including the emergency medicine interest group and Loyola Stands Against Gun
Violence to align our advocacy and outreach initiatives. Partner with local organizations and
stakeholders to amplify our impact and support community-led violence prevention efforts. - Support and Empowerment: Provide a platform for medical students to voice their concerns
and ideas on gun violence prevention. Create a supportive network for students interested in
advocating for safer communities.
