Gastroenterology & Nutrition

Faculty in the Division of Gastroenterology are nationally recognized for their expertise in general gastroenterology, pancreaticobiliary disease, interventional endoscopy, inflammatory bowel disease, gastrointestinal behavioral medicine, gastrointestinal motility disorders and small bowel disorders/adult clinical nutrition. We utilize innovative techniques and interventions to help serve our patient's needs. We work closely with other disciplines at Loyola to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for all our patients.

Education

Our faculty are involved with clinical supervision, didactic teaching, and research mentorship for medical students, residents and fellows. We train up to 12 fellows and promote their development into clinical leaders in the field. 

The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship is a rigorous, ACGME-accredited three-year program designed to cultivate excellence in clinical care, education, and research. Our fellows train in a quaternary care academic medical center and benefit from a broad clinical experience that includes general gastroenterologytransplant hepatologyinflammatory bowel disease (IBD), motility disorders, pancreaticobiliary disease, and interventional endoscopy.

Research

Our research program focuses on advancing patient care through clinical and translational studies in gastroenterology. Key areas include use of innovative devices and techniques in interventional endoscopy, exploring the role of behavioral medicine in disorders of gut-brain interaction, and improving outcomes for individuals with inflammatory bowel disease through clinical trials and outcome-based research.
