Vice President for Civic Engagement & Government Affairs
Phil Hale has managed Loyola’s federal, state, and local government relations for 25 years. He advocates for federal and state financial aid, as well as any substantive legislation that might impact the University.
Hale also works closely with Loyola students and alumni, especially those interested in being persons for others through the public sector. He is the founder and advisor of Inside Government, a non-partisan student organization that encourages students to consider careers in the public sector. In 2022, he also created the Public Service Affinity Network for Loyola alumni and students.
Before coming to Loyola, Hale managed government affairs for the Chicago Park District. He also served as the Director of Development for the Grant Park Music Festival, responsible for the group’s fundraising, membership, and corporate sponsorship activities.
Hale serves on the Board of the Civic Federation of Chicago and is very active with the City Club of Chicago.
