Army Health Professions Scholarship Program
The Army offers one of the most generous and comprehensive scholarships in the health care fields. The F. Edward Hebert Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP) provides full tuition plus a monthly allowance. Eligible applicants must be pursuing a degree as a physician, dentist, veterinarian, optometrist, a clinical or counseling psychologist or nurse anesthetist. Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Associations
The Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Associations is announcing its 2008 scholarship.
Students attending an accredited university full time whose major course of study encompasses the field of Civil or Environmental Engineering, Traffic Engineering, Public Works Administration or other programs within the public works field are eligible. Candidates must reside (home address) or be employed within the geographic boundaries of the APWA Chicago Metro Chapter. This area includes the entire counties of Cook, Lake, McHenry, DuPage, DeKalb, Grundy, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, and Will - all in Illinois. No other areas will be considered. Multiple awards totaling a minimum amount of $4,950 are intended to be awarded.
Applications are available at the Hub Counter in the Sullivan Center for Student Services or may be found at Chicago Metro Chapter of the American Public Works Associations. This application is due on October 20, 2008. It must be postmarked, faxed, or emailed by this date.
Comed latino scholarship
HACE is proud to announce our partnership with ComEd, an Exelon Company, to deliver scholarship awards that assist Latino students in furthering their educational goals. Five outstanding students will
be selected to receive $2,500 scholarships this fall.
HACE is now accepting applications for the 2008 ComEd Latino Scholarship.
Davies-Jackson Scholarship
The Davies-Jackson Scholarship presents a unique opportunity for an outstanding student to participate in a course of study at St. John’s College at the University of Cambridge following their graduation. Administered by the Council of Independent Colleges and supported by and anonymous benefactor, the Davies-Jackson Scholarship is designed especially for students from families with modest economic backgrounds and who are among the very first in their families to have graduated from college. Applicants should be students who have demonstrated enthusiasm for and achievement in the arts, humanities and social sciences, and who wish to pursue further substantive study in these areas. This two-year, full scholarship to St. John’s covers all tuition, fees, room and board during the term-time, living expenses during summer vacation and travel to and from England. The Scholarship is open to students who wish to read Archaeology and Anthropology, Classics, Economics, English, Geography, History, History of Art, Modern and Medieval Languages, Music, Philosophy, or Social and Political Sciences.
Applications for the Davies-Jackson Scholarship are due by November 14, 2008. The application should be made directly to the Davies-Jackson Scholarship Committee, not to the University. Applications materials may be obtained at Davies-Jackson.
GLAMOUR 2009 TOP 10 COLLEGE WOMEN COMPETITION
Glamour is pleased to invite students to apply to the 2009 Top College Women Competition. This competition recognizes the exceptional achievements and academic excellence of female college juniors from across the country. It’s an ideal opportunity for talented students to be rewarded for their leadership roles on campus and in the greater community. Winners receive $3000, coverage in the June 2009 issue of Glamour magazine and the opportunity to meet with female professionals in their field, usually during a trip to New York City where winners also meet one another.
Applications are available at the Hub Counter in the Sullivan Center for Student Services or by request to Glamour. Applications must be received by December 1, 2008.
Greek women's university club (GWUC)
The GWUC has been in existence since 1931. It has been the mission of the organization to promote education and to support a variety of endeavors in the arts, literature, and sciences within the community. Since its inception, the GWUC has supported women of Greek descent by offering annual academic scholarships.
The eligibility criteria for the scholarships are as follows:

Must be female.

Must be either a full time undergraduate with at least sophomore standing, or a full-time graduate student.

Must have at least one parent who is of Greek ancestry.

Must be a U.S. citizen.

Must be a permanent resident of the Chicago metropolitan area (50 mile radius).

Must be available for an in-person interview on Saturday, November 22, 2008.

Previous GWUC scholarship recipients are not eligible.
Applications are available at the Hub Counter in the Sullivan Center for Student Services and must be postmarked by Saturday, October 18, 2008.

National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is an honors organization which recognizes outstanding academic achievement among first and second year college students and encourages members to develop leadership skills through community service. The Society was founded in 1994 at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. NSCS has an active chapter at Loyola and more than 205 college and university campuses across the United States. Chapters are involved in service to their campus and local communities, as well as scholastic and social activities.
NSCS members are also eligible to participate in a variety of activities sponsored by the Society. Scholarships and awards, leadership development activities, service programs, community building and information sharing are the focus of activities organized nationally.
