If we create a clear definition for anti-racism and a framework for developing as an anti-racist to build a university-wide system for training and professional development, we will see an increased awareness of how to be an anti-racist that will lead to increased belonging, and diversity of students, staff, and faculty of color.
Specific activities to be implemented:
- Create an Anti-racism Call to Action to raise awareness of what antiracism is (definition) and what it means
- Propose a structure for centralizing a system for learning and development
- Establish a Framework for “developing” as an anti-racist for students, staff, and faculty
- Build a structure for systemic collaboration with the Institute of Racial Justice
Proposed outcomes (over the next 5 years):
- Increased engagement in professional development and training for students, staff, and faculty in the areas of DEI and social justice
- Student reports of increase in anti-racist practices in curriculum and pedagogy
- Climate survey data indicate an increased sense of belonging amongst students, staff, and faculty of color
- Decrease in turnover for students, staff, and faculty of color
