Our university has emerged as a leader in America and in global higher education, demonstrating the transformative power of intellectual inquiry, ethical leadership, that strives always to serve the greater good.

At the heart of Loyola’s mission is a steadfast dedication to providing students with an education that prepares them for meaningful lives and careers. We have expanded our research capacity and academic programs to ensure that our students are equipped to address the complex challenges of our world. Our faculty — renowned scholars, researchers, and practitioners — continue to push the boundaries of knowledge, securing prestigious grants and publishing groundbreaking work that shapes their disciplines and influences global conversations.

“Loyola’s scholars are conducting basic studies and leading-edge projects in the health sciences, environmental sustainability, artificial intelligence, and the social sciences. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we are driving solutions that reflect our values and deepen our impact on the world.” President Mark C. Reed, EdD

One of our most significant milestones has been the continued development of our research enterprise. As this report goes to press, we have been recognized as a Research 1 institution based on the scale and scope of our work. Loyola’s scholars are conducting basic studies and leading-edge projects in the health sciences, environmental sustainability, artificial intelligence, and the social sciences. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, we are driving solutions that reflect our values and deepen our impact on the world.

Beyond the laboratory and the classroom, Loyola’s research mission is deeply connected to our commitment to service and making a difference through scholarship applied to action. Loyola’s work in sustainability, including ongoing research into climate change mitigation and ethical business practices, aligns with our Jesuit tradition of caring for our common home and promoting responsible stewardship of resources.

Our students are key participants in this expanding research ecosystem. We have strengthened opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in research, offering them hands-on experiences that prepare them to become the next generation of leaders and innovators. Through competitive research grants, faculty-mentored projects, and global learning experiences, Loyola students are developing skills and insights needed to make a difference in their lives, communities, and beyond.

Loyola continues to grow in prominence as partnerships with institutions and organizations around the world extend our impact. Research and scholarly exchanges with international universities, corporate partners, and nonprofit organizations are enhancing opportunities for student learning, faculty research, and global engagement. These efforts ensure Loyola remains at the forefront of higher education and that our graduates live and work with a well-rounded global perspective.

With gratitude and optimism, we embrace the future — one defined by academic excellence and pathfinding research that serves the world well.
