Mission

The mission of the Burn and Shock Trauma Research Institute at Loyola University Chicago is to reduce the incidence and devastating effects of traumatic injury through the vigorous application of both clinical and laboratory research.

The Institute maintains the following goals:

  1. To perform translational research in trauma, burns and inflammation with a focus on mechanisms of tissue injury and repair.
  2. To develop large-scale programmatic research initiatives that are cross-disciplinary, translational and advance clinical research.
  3. To maintain a dynamic research training program for individuals at the pre-doctoral and post-doctoral levels.
  4. To support the development of clinician-scientists with interests related to traumatic injury, wound healing, and inflammation research.
