Celebration of Pi Day

Celebration of Pi Day

It has become an annual ritual for geeks the world over...

π ≈ 3.14159,

so around 1:59pm every March 14th, we stop lecture, and profess our love for this most famous of mathematical constants. (Okay, probably not. But it wouldn't hurt to ask your prof.)

Beyond that, what did we do?

  • the Math Club held their annual dinner, with pizza, pie, a movie, and a prize for the person who memorizes the most digits of π;
  • Laurie Jordan brought pi-themed goodies to the department and her classes; and
  • the Illinois Science Council organizing some fun local events—a fun run (length 3.14K, of course), and π-themed deals at local restaurants and bakeries.
