Academic Calendar
The Academic Calendar outlines class meeting dates, holidays, and makeup dates for the entire academic year. Faculty should adhere to the makeup dates outlined within this calendar. If for any reason a makeup date must be changed, please do not broadcast this change to students prior to confirming the change with the Institute Office.
Student Handbook
The Student Handbook is where information such as course withdrawal, attendance policy, quiz/exam makeups, grade scale, grievance procedure, and probation can be found.
Class Schedules
Class schedules note class, section, faculty, and room assignment. Current versions of these schedules are posted to the Schedules section of our website. Registration and Records does not notify departments of room assignment changes. It is best to confirm you room assignment through LOCUS just prior to attending your first class meeting.
LOCUS (class Roster & Grade entry)
Current class rosters, including student withdrawals, can be found on LOCUS. These rosters are, for the most part, real time rosters. Blackboard rosters are not. Faculty should also enter final grades into LOCUS. Grades entered into Blackboard are for student viewing only. All final grades must be entered into LOCUS in order for the grade to be reflected on the student's transcript.

Blackboard
Blackboard is an online communication tool between faculty and students. Only the faculty instructing the course and the students enrolled in the course can view anything posted to the course in Blackboard. Faculty must make a class "available" on Blackboard, before enrolled students can view the course on Blackboard. Classes should be made "available" at least one week prior to the start of the class. Further instructions on using Blackboard can be found at the Blackboard login page.
Syllabus
Faculty should post their syllabus to Blackboard about one week prior to the start of classes. All faculty must also supply a copy of their syllabus to the Institute Office as soon as it is available. Syllabus copies are kept for our records and also help the office prepare for any special equipment or room needs.
Office Key
All faculty teaching within a current session are supplied a copy of the Institute Office key. Faculty not teaching in an upcoming session should return their key at the end of the current session.
Faculty meetings
Electronic Classrooms
Electronic classrooms are equipped with a computer, video projector, and sound system. Instructors can use this equipment for visual assistance in classroom instruction.
Groupwise (LUC E-mail)
Loyola faculty, staff, and students are provided email accounts through Groupwise. Faculty should check this address regularly as any email sent from students through Blackboard will by default be sent to the LUC address. LUC email can be forwarded to another account. Instructions on forwarding your email and other details regarding Groupwise can be found on the ITS website.
Universal ID/Password
Loyola issues a Universal ID and Password to all new faculty, staff, and students. This ID/Password allows you to login to LOCUS, Blackboard, and Groupwise. ID information is sent to new faculty from the Institute Office. The Helpdesk issues temporary passwords (wether they are new or reset), which should be changed after your initial login. Do not continue to use the temporary password. It will expire after only a few uses.
Your account (ID/Password) can be managed online through the Personal Account Manager (PAM). Faculty can set up security features through PAM that will allow them to reset passwords online. Online resets can be done at any time, otherwise password resets must be done through the Helpdesk which is available Monday-Friday from 8-5pm. Passwords will need to be updated every 180 days.
Faculty Contact Directory
The directory is a list of all current Paralegal Studies faculty. This directory includes only email addresses and phone numbers.

IL MCLE Credit
Teaching credit may be earned for teaching law courses at a university, college, or community college by lawyers who are not full-time teachers if the teaching involves significant intellectual, educational or practical content, such as a civil procedure course taught to paralegal students or a commercial law course taught to business students. Presentations shall be counted at the full hour or fraction thereof for the initial presentation; a repeat presentation of the same material shall be counted at one-half; no further hours may be earned for additional presentations of the same material. MCLE Rule 795(d)(6)(ii)
Credit Certificate Requests
If you wish to receive a Certificate of Teaching (MCLE Form10b), please send an email to Jennifer Gettings, with the name of the course(s) and the session(s) you taught. A separate Certificate will be issued for each course you taught and for each session it was taught.
Calculating CLE Hours
- CLE hours are calculated based on each 2 year reporting period. Initial presentations of a course will be calculated at the full three hours, subsequent presentations will be calculated at one and a half hours (1/2 the presentation time).
- All hours will go toward your general MCLE hours. No hours are counted toward your professionalism hours.
- Only actual presentation time will be counted toward your hours, no preparation time can be included toward this total.
