Enterprise Risk Management in a Global Environment

Leadership is about coping with change, setting directions, aligning stakeholders, embracing emerging realities, and creating organizational and societal value. In the post-pandemic world, rapid economic, technological, logistical, and political changes have significantly increased the overall risk level in the global business environment diminishing organizational adaptability and upending performance and survivability. This impact is felt not only by large publicly traded multi-nationals, but also by small and medium sized family owned business, and not-for-profit entities. Yet, successful firms continue to remain profitable and impactful by implementing integrated strategies and processes to assess and address risks and opportunities from all sources. Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) has revolutionized the traditional silo-based risk management approaches by providing a new integrated paradigm to manage and address risks.

Using real-world cases based on the instructor’s consulting experiences and key academic research papers, participants will explore the complexity and diversity of the global risk space, appreciate their systemic impact on a firm’s long-run performance, and develop workable programs both to mitigate threats and realize competitive advantages.
