Rauf Family Statement and Memorial Information
Mokaram Rauf, brother of Loyola student Mutahir Rauf, who was recently shot and killed, will speak to media on behalf of the family on Tuesday, December 9 at 9 a.m., in the Mundelein Center on Loyola University Chicago’s Lake Shore Campus.
Please note the following:
- Media should arrive no earlier than 8:20 a.m. The room will be open at 8:30 for set up and Mokaram will speak starting at 9 a.m. sharp.
- Audio equipment (mult box, mics, etc.) will NOT be available. A podium will be available for you to place microphones and recording devices.
- The memorial service itself, which starts at 10 a.m., is open to the public, but NO media-related photography, video, or recording devices will be allowed into the service. Additional details of the service are available here.
- We will have an area for you to station your cameras, videographers, and reporters outside the building during the memorial service. Click here for a campus map.
Members of Loyola’s media relations team will be on-site to assist. Out of respect for the family and those attending the service, we ask that you please respect all of the directions above.
Also, this Wednesday, December 10 the University will host an Interfaith Prayer for Non-Violence program at 3 p.m. in the Jo Ann Rooney Hall.
