About OGCE

D. Scott Hendrickson, SJ, Associate Provost for Global and Community Engagement

Welcome to the Office of Global and Community Engagement, housed in the Office of the Provost of Loyola University Chicago.

Engagement both in the local community and globally can be traced to the very foundation of Jesuit education and the principles the first Jesuits and their lay collaborators espoused in the sixteenth century. Today, our students continue to identify the most transformative aspects of their undergraduate and graduate education within this same tradition, through the engaged learning, service, and research they undertake in the communities surrounding our campuses in Chicago and through the experiences they have abroad at our global center in Rome, and other locations around the world. As the Associate Provost of this office, I am pleased to introduce you to the expertise and work of faculty and staff in the Office of International Programs (OIP), which includes Study Abroad, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), and the English Language Learning Program (ELLP); the John Felice Rome Center (JFRC); the Office of Global Initiatives; the Center for Engaged Learning, Teaching, and Scholarship (CELTS); the Center for Urban Research and Learning (CURL); and the Gannon Center for Women and Leadership.
