The T4 8.4.5 upgrade primarily focuses on usability improvements, accessibility enhancements, and bug fixes. Below are the changes most relevant to our day-to-day T4 moderators and content editors, without the technical details intended for system administrators or developers.

Changes relevant to daily CMS users

  • Improved Text Editor: Fixed an issue where the text editor would unexpectedly jump to the top when editing longer content. This should make editing lengthy pages easier.
  • More Consistent Text Formatting: The Digital Team can now configure different formatting options for individual content fields. For example, some fields may offer limited formatting options while others provide the full text editor. Moderators may notice differences depending on the content type they're using.
  • Improved Accessibility: Updated several CMS interface elements, including close buttons, drag-and-drop areas, and page navigation, to improve color contrast and accessibility.
  • Media Library Improvements: Fixed an issue where media folder/category names containing special characters (such as &) displayed incorrectly.
  • Image Publishing Fixes: Resolved issues where certain image versions or sizes could overwrite original images or fail to publish correctly. This improves the reliability of published images.
  • Repeater Content Type Fixes: Addressed issues involving hidden fields within collapsed repeaters and links generated from nested repeaters. These fixes may improve how certain content types function.
  • Clearer Publishing Button: Corrected an issue where the publishing button sometimes displayed "Publish anyway" instead of simply "Publish."
  • Media Accessibility Information: Added an improvement that allows image variants to inherit descriptions, such as alternative text, from their original media files when variants are created.

What this means for our T4 moderators

  • No major changes to your daily workflow. You can continue creating, editing, approving, and publishing content as usual.
  • A more reliable editing experience, particularly when working with long text, images, and repeaters.
  • Improved accessibility and usability throughout parts of the CMS interface.
  • Some formatting options may differ by content type, depending on how the Digital Team configures them.
