Community
CLC is a global network of Ignatian laity dedicated to the Jesuit spiritual values of listening, discerning and responding to God's calling and movements in our daily lives. CLC's at Loyola university Chicago are designed for those who seek a deeper relationship with God and others through prayer, service, and reflection. CLC's are groups of friends who gather weekly for an hour to pray and reflect on Scriptures, Ignatian Spiritual Exercises, poetry, and share their spiritual journeys. Groups consist of 6-8 participants with a Student Coordinator and a Spiritual Companion. Together we seek to build a community of Ignatian leaders steeped in the Jesuit Catholic tradition. By fostering trusting relationships, finding God in all things, being aware of our gifts and obstacles to God's friendship, and by living a life of MAGIS, CLC's seek to form women and men of service to God's world and God's people.

Faith
Faith and spirituality are at the heart of the Ignatian way of life. Faith is the growing awareness of the movements of God's grace and desires in our life and then choosing to align ourselves with such movement. By doing exercises of faith in CLC groups, we try to recognize signs and patterns of God's calling for us. The real gift of Ignatian spirituality is its accessibility and multiple forms it can be used. We utilize Jesuit and Ignatian prayer techniques such as the daily Examen of Conscience, centering prayer, Scriptural contemplation, lectio divina, creative arts, silence, and more. By creating a sacred space for prayer and sharing, CLC's are able to begin to "listen" for God's desire within us (our stories, our prayers, our dreams, our passions, our gifts, our deep gladness, etc...) and be aware of our own openness and/or resistance to God's calling.

Mission
As women and men for others, CLC participants are dedicated to "the service of faith and the promotion of justice" that an Ignatian spiritual life demands. A life of mission and purpose in the Ignatian tradition is a response to our discernment of God's calling and characterized as a life of Magis. Magis is Latin for "More" and when we speak about a life of More, we mean that life to be recognized in the way we proceed in this world, particularly in our actions for excellence. To live a life of Magis is to be more loving, more compassionate, more generous, more forgiving, more substantial in our life goals of doing all things for the greater glory of God in the service of God's world. Every year, CLCers participate in acts of service that will bring us into contact with the needs of the real world. Whether through the annual Canned Food Drive and Delivery for Glenmary Farm, our participation in the Ignatian Family Teach-In at the School of Americas protest or through Candy Days with Miseriacordia in Chicago, we seek to be persons of faithful service as we 'Go Forth' to love and serve our local Chicago community and the world...Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam.
