Fellowships and Scholarships

There are different kinds of awards and funding for different purposes.  Check out our "Awards by category" section to your left to find individual awards you may be eligible for.  We also have a special section on the Rhodes, Marshall and Schwarzman awards, being some of the most competitive and prestigious awards for students.

Should you decide to apply for an award, besides working with the Fellowship Office, there are three things to keep in mind:

-- go to that award's website for the most complete information on application materials, deadlines, and resources like webinars and tips

-- always be aware of deadlines, and

-- apply for a FIG!

FIGs and GIGs

We have Fellowship Incentive Grants of up to $1000 and Gilman Incentive Grants of up to $250.  These are grants awarded to students who have firmly decided to apply for a major award, or specifically for a Gilman Scholarship.  Click on each award name for further information.

Student looking for funding, research opportunities, or other awards can use a number of reputable databases, including:

The MSU Library database of scholarships and awards

The Fatomei database of scholarships and awards

The Pivot database, provided by the Community of Sciences consortium
