Psychology Major Course Requirements

The requirements for the B.S. in Psychology at Loyola University Chicago are:

  • PSYC 101. General Psychology
  • PSYC 304. Statistics
  • PSYC 306  Research Methods
  • Two A-group courses
  • Two B-group courses
  • One laboratory course
  • One capstone course
  • Electives to bring the total number of PSYC courses to at least twelve.

Students are also required to take two math courses. For more specific information, see the Psychology Major Checklist.

Note: Students are encouraged to take at least one required math course before taking PSYC 304. Statistics. Students also are  encouraged to take the statistics course during their sophomore year; PSYC 304 must be completed before taking PSYC 306. Research Methods. Both of these courses must be completed before taking a laboratory or capstone course, including internship courses.
