Kenmore Update: Closure Complete

Kenmore Update: Closure Complete

After a long year of planning, designing, meeting with community groups, and gathering feedback the 6300 block of Kenmore Avenue officially closed to traffic on December 5, 2013.

As the new owner of the property, Loyola University intends to transform the street into a pedestrian and bike- friendly mall complete with 39,000 square feet of environmentally sustainable surfaces, bike lanes, benches, trees and other native plantings. The extension of the campus experience onto this block will compliment the cutting edge research of the new Institute for Environmental Sustainability.

I would like to thank everyone who participated in the planning process for their feedback and patience. Construction of the new campus will take about 10 months and  I look forward  to seeing you at the grand opening next summer.

Sincerely,

Summur Roberts
Director of Community Relations
