Plan Your Visit

Welcome to Chicago!

To assist you in navigating the city, we can share the Ramblin' Around Guide, which was created by the Office of Neighborhood Initiatives. This guide has information on local restaurants and other businesses.

We have developed a list of different attractions that you may want to check out during your weekend here. We encourage families to use this as a starting point to inform their own search for information about things to do in Chicago. While our intent is to share accurate and updated information, Loyola University Chicago does not take responsibility for off-campus experiences or changes that may occur. We will do our best to update this document to ensure an exciting stay. With 77 diverse and distinguishable neighborhoods, Chicago can provide a unique experience for each visitor. Have fun exploring the vibrant and fascinating city of Chicago!

A summary of important travel information for travel through O'Hare (ORD) and Midway (MDW) International Airports

Hotels

If you are not in the Chicago area, you can find a list of hotels in the area to help you make your arrangements. This list includes places where families have stayed in past years, but it is not an exhaustive list of options. Families from out of town are encouraged to find a place to stay as soon as they decide to come for Family Weekend in order to have more choices available to them.

Parking

A Lake Shore Campus map shows the locations of the parking garages and campus buildings. We have two parking garages at the Lake Shore Campus that Family Weekend guests are welcome to use during Family Weekend at no charge. The gates for both garages will be up during Family Weekend. Parking is not allowed from 2am - 5am. More information about parking can be found on the Campus Transportation webpage for visitors and guests.

Please note that space in the garage is limited so people are encouraged to use public transportation when possible. There is street parking in the neighborhood as well.
