Meet Our Team

The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) is staffed by international education professionals with personal experiences studying, traveling, and working all around the world. We enjoy supporting all aspects of the international student, scholar, and employee experience at Loyola University Chicago and look forward to working with you.

 



Amy Soub

Director, PDSO/RO

Amy Soub is originally from the Chicagoland area but lived overseas in Italy for many years. She has travelled to over twenty countries and hopes to add more to her portfolio each year. Her undergraduate degrees were in Italian Studies and Philosophy, and she also has a Life Coaching Certificate and received candidacy in Counseling. In 2021 she received her M.A. in Higher Education Leadership. She has more than ten years of experience working in international higher education and her current position within ISSS is focused on international student and scholar support and retention. 

When Amy is not at work, she enjoys spending time with family, cooking, and walking/running along the lakeshore.

 

 

Abby Mensing

International Scholar Coordinator, DSO/ARO

Abby hails from Wisconsin and is familiar with invigorating Midwestern winters! Before joining the Loyola Chicago ISSS team as the International Scholar Coordinator, she worked primarily with F-1 students in Texas and Louisiana. Her time at Louisiana State University also introduced her to the Exchange Visitor Program and employment-based petitions. She is delighted to continue that work here.

Abby has traveled in South-East Asia, Western Europe and Brazil. When not traveling, she bakes and enjoys exploring Chicago.

 

Zhen Ju

International Student Advisor, DSO/ARO

Zhen (She/Her) is an educator who aspires to support international students’ holistic development in U.S. higher education. Originally from mainland China, she used to be an international student and has lived in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Indiana. She has two M.Ed. from University of Pittsburgh and Loyola University Chicago. Zhen has over five years language teaching experience, including teaching ESL in Thailand and Mandarin Chinese in the U.S.. She has also worked closely with international students in graduate admissions.

Outside of work, Zhen enjoys snorkeling, traveling, and reading.

 

Scott Jones

International Student Advisor, DSO/ARO

Before joining the ISSS team as an International Student Advisor, Scott taught briefly in the International Studies program at the University of Illinois at Chicago and served as a graduate admissions advisor at the University of Arizona. His educational background is in Middle Eastern & North African Studies, History, and International Studies.

When Scott is not at work, you might find him out fishing, skateboarding, or trying to improve his Arabic.
