Message from Dean Alexandre

May 2026

Dear Alumni,

As we head into the summer, I hope you are able to take some time to relax and recharge. We have had a productive academic year at the School of Law. Here are a few accomplishments.

Our admissions team continues to attract a talented pool of applicants to the School of Law, registering a 26% increase in application volume compared to this time last year. The percentage is higher than the national, regional, and state application volume increases. The overall application volume is among the highest since 2010.

Additionally, our Academic Success and Bar Passage team continues to support our students comprehensively through their legal education to drive higher bar passage rates. In 2025, July first-time takers in Illinois had an 86.5% passage rate. The Ultimate Bar Passage for graduates (passing the bar within two years of graduation) is 96.07%.

Our Career Services team remains dedicated to providing robust, tailored support to our students and alumni. In the evolving employment landscape, the class of 2025 achieved our second-highest placement rate on record, including 92.7% employed in law-related roles (as defined by ABA criteria) and 96.17% for overall placement in professional positions.

I’m happy to share that the School of Law has been admitted into the Order of the Coif, a national honor society for law schools. Membership is extended only to schools that meet rigorous standards of academic quality, faculty scholarship, student achievement, and institutional strength. Fewer than half of ABA-accredited U.S. law schools are members. For member law schools, JD students who graduate in the top 10% of their class may be elected to membership in the Order of the Coif.

The School of Law’s specialty programs continue to rank among the country’s best. Among other accolades, U.S. News & World Report ranks Loyola #4 for health care law, #27 for Trial Advocacy, and #15 for our Weekend JD program.

We are having a strong year in fundraising. As of mid-April, 677 gifts to the law school totaled more than $2.4 million, outpacing traditional fundraising years. We are so grateful for continued alumni support.

As always, I value your continued involvement with serving our students and advancing the goals and priorities of our law school. Thank you for everything you do to make the School of Law a groundbreaking leader in legal education.

Sincerely,
