CHOIR Funding Opportunities

Call for proposals

CHOIR strives to leverage our informatics infrastructure and data analytics capabilities to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities, and to develop health outcomes and informatics expertise across Loyola University Chicago (LUC) and Loyola University Health System (LUHS; our academic medical center partner). In this call for proposals, we are soliciting proposals that align with CHOIR’s mission, and which will generate preliminary data for subsequent federal funding applications (e.g. National Institutes of Health, National Science Foundation, etc.). Special consideration will be given to proposals that address health inequities, social determinants of health, or the impact of the environment on health inequities.

This funding opportunity is open to the entire LUC/LUHS community, and multidisciplinary projects across departments, schools, and campus are strongly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility

The PI/co-PI must be full-time faculty members at LUC/LUHS. Co-investigators and other senior personnel may be faculty or staff.

Funding Details

The CHOIR steering committee will entertain proposals up to $50,000 total for a period of up to one year, beginning July 1, 2024. The internal budget award template must be used or the proposal will not be considered for funding. A new Loyola or IPRS number must be obtained prior to submitting the proposal.

Funding is limited. The budget must be accurate, conservative, and carefully reflective of the work. No cost extensions are not allowed under this funding mechanism. Funds may not be used to cover faculty salary or student tuition. Proposals should be single-spaced and must follow the CHOIR submission template. Funding is competitive; this invitation does not guarantee funding.

Please submit the full proposal using Loyola's Grant Program Portal by April 1, 2024, at 5 p.m. CT. Direct questions to Nicholas Soulakis, PhD, Chair Health Informatics & Data Science, Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health and Director of CHOIR.
