Non-profit organizations:

Jesuit Refugee Service- International Office (JRS) is an international Catholic organization. Its mission is to accompany, to serve and to plead the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced people. The JRS was set up by the Society of Jesus in 1980 and is now working over 50 countries worldwide. JRS works with all refugees but has a particular concern at present for the "forgotten" refugees who have moved out of the media spotlight. There are over 40 million forcibly displaced people worldwide. This includes 15 million refugees, 27 million internally displaced persons, and more than 837,500 individuals whose asylum applications have not yet been decided.

KIM Association “La onlus che aiuta i bambini malati”. KIM’s mission statement translates to the NGO that helps sick children. KIM, operating since 1997, finds sick children from foreign countries and raise funding to support the travel expenses of both the mother and child. The mother and child shelter provide a community where volunteers support their permanence in Italy while the medical treatment is provided.

Activist organizations/Social groups:

Democrats Abroad is the overseas branch of the U.S. Democratic Party for the millions of Americans living outside the United States. They work to advance the principles of their Party by spreading the Democratic message to Americans abroad and encouraging them to vote for Democratic candidates back home. Democrats Abroad has committees throughout Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. These Country Committees keep Americans abroad informed of their rights and help them participate in the U.S. political process. A small support office is maintained in Washington, D.C. Democrats Abroad is recognized as a "state" Party by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and is represented on the DNC by eight voting members, as well as at the quadrennial Democratic National Convention.

Associazione DifferenzaDonna is a non-profit organization based on understanding and preventing violence against women. It was created in Rome in1989, and has since then been fighting discrimination and violence against females, and confronting this complex social phenomenon. Differenza Donna is supported and recognized by several Italian institutions and throughout the past two decades, Differenza Donna has also grown into an international project, supported by l’Unione Europea, la Cooperazione italiana allo sviluppo, and il Ministero degli Affari Esteri. There are five Differenza Donna centres in Rome, all dedicated to different purposes. Only for students with intermediate Italian.

Bertolami Fine Arts is a complex entity: auction house, art gallery, exhibition design, and cultural events studio Bertolami Fine Arts, a name known to numismatics collectors around the world, began operating in 2011 as an auction house specializing in the sale of coins and medals. Since 2001, Monaco and London branches have been founded and the Department of Numismatics has been joined by Departments of Antiquities, Ancient and Modern Glyptics, Medieval Art, Old Master Paintings, Modern and Contemporary Art, Prints & Multiples, Photography, Ceramics, Frames, 20th Century Design and Decorative Arts, Asian and Tribal Art, Books, Autographs and Memorabilia, Jewelery, Silver and Watches, Fashion, Textiles and Luxury, Automotive.

Travel Care Italy is the private international department of Ospedale Cristo Re, created to support the international and foreign community in Rome by offering high-quality international medical assistance, which means having all specialties, the best doctors, multi-lingual medical assistance, and 24/7 emergency services, including translators and interpreters, with no associated extra costs.

Rome Reports is an independent TV news agency located near the Vatican in Rome, reporting on issues relating to the Vatican, the Pope, and Catholicism. It is the largest Spanish- and English-language TV news agency in Rome. The agency reaches many people with its website of online articles and videos reporting on Catholic issues. It also reaches a wide audience through its YouTube channel, which has more than 100,000 subscribers who tune in to watch its short, informative videos every day.

The Roman Guy is made up of travelers at heart, who visited Rome on vacation and decided to stay and make it home. The mission of this company is to be able to share its local culture with others. Luiss Enlabs is a start-up accelerator based in Rome and certified by the Italian Government. They are operated by LVenture Group, a publicly listed venture capital company that provides the start-ups with funding and a network. Twice a year, they select a new batch of early-stage start-ups for their acceleration program. Tjey have collaborated with many different startups, mostly in marketing research and translation, such as Fitprime Srl, Direttoo Srl, Codemotion srl, and GamepixSrl.

Museums/Libraries/Institutes:

SIOI, the Italian Society for International Organization, is a non-profit international organization that operates under the supervision of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and chaired by Ambassador Umberto La Rocca. SIOI organized a Master’s Degree Course that started in March 2011 and focuses on ‘Crisis Areas, Security and Intelligence’.

American Academy in Rome is a leading American overseas center for independent studies and advanced research in the fine arts and humanities. The Rome Prize fellowships supports up to 30 artists and scholars who live and work in a congenial atmosphere that breeds collaboration as well as individual achievement. Each year, artists and scholars working in ancient, medieval, Renaissance and early modern; modern Italian studies; architecture, landscape architecture, design, historic preservation and conservation; literature; musical composition; and visual arts are chosen by juries of experts in those fields at The School of the Classical Studies (founded in 1895 as the American School of Classical Studies in Rome which merged into the Academy in 1913). Other events include sponsors conferences and lectures during the course of the year,  a series of trips and tours of Rome and Italy for scholars, and a range of archaeological projects.

Museo delle Arti e tradizioni popolari located in the EUR neighborhood of Rome since 1956, is the only national museum in Italy with a scientific background in ethno-anthropology. With the help of the Ethnographic Exhibition of 1911 in Rome, meant to celebrate the 50th birthday of newly united Italy, the collections put together became the foundation for the Rome branch of the museum, later becoming the Museo Nazionale delle Arti e Tradizioni Popolari. Since its inception, the museum has gone through many different transformations, its most recent in 2008, but while the name may have changed, the museum’s goal has always been the same; to share with others the beauty and importance of Italy and its culture. The current contemporary exhibit is about Italian fashion. 

Educational Initiatives

Scuola Primaria Pistilli/Scuola media Giovanni XXIII are two public schools, respectively elementary and middle. Both  pride themselves upon scoring above average on standardized tests than other schools in Lazio and Italy in general. They also make available opportunities such as theater workshops where students can learn to act and perform in a show each year along with other  extracurricular activities include a school of cinema. The schools provide students with the most updated and advanced methods of education. The English language program has also been approved by the Italian Ministry of Education and it consists in hiring American college students in order to teach English to children.

Art and Seek for Kids is a non-profit association that offers museum programs and art workshops for children and adults in English. They use a very advanced method of education based on questions and answers mixed with practical activities, helping the audience to reflect on many different themes while analyzing a piece of art. During the year, they plan 2 or 3 museum programs per month in addition to school programs, conferences, art workshops, and other institutional activities.
