Delane Haro
Adjunct Instructor
I’m a communication educator and longtime communications professional with experience spanning higher education, arts administration, marketing, and nonprofit leadership. I currently teach at Loyola University Chicago, DePaul University, and the College of Lake County. Before focusing primarily on teaching, I led marketing, publicity, and special projects for organizations including Stanford University’s Department of Music, Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music, and NPR’s Latino USA, and later managed service-delivery logistics and volunteer efforts for Meals on Wheels Northeastern Illinois. I genuinely love bringing my professional experience—and the people I’ve met along the way—into the classroom.
What I enjoy most is helping students become more confident, competent, and authentic communicators. At Loyola, I’ve taught Public Speaking, Business and Professional Communication, and Ethics and Communication. That work now extends beyond the classroom through my communication coaching practice, where I work one-on-one with students to strengthen their presenting skills. Outside of teaching, I’m a longtime singer and guitarist and am currently working on a jazz guitar and vocal album.
I grew up in Central Texas but have called Chicago home for many years. I hold a BA in Communication Studies with a minor in Music and an MA in Communication Studies with a graduate minor in Anthropology, from the University of North Texas.
