Gita Taherkhani

Dr. Taherkhani is an assistant professor in the Information Systems and Supply Chain Management Department in Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago. She has been working on different realistic optimization problems including but not limited to scheduling, network design, and facility location problems arising in transportation, logistics and telecommunications. She considers these problems from empirical and analytical perspectives. Sustainability issues are another aspect that she studies in these problems. Her work has practical applications in the design of airline passenger and freight transportation networks, express shipment and postal delivery, truckload and less-than-truckload transportation, and any other industry that benefits from a transportation network structure.

Dr. Taherkhani received her PhD in Management Sciences at the University of Waterloo. Prior to joining Loyola University Chicago, she was a postdoctoral research fellow in the Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics, and Transportation (CIRRELT) and the School of Management at the University of Quebec in Montreal. In 2020, her Ph.D. dissertation was granted the second best INFORMS SOLA Dissertation Award and INFORMS AAS Dissertation Award.
