Tuchman Scholarship

Scholarship Honors Founding Dean Nancy C. Tuchman

This summer, Nancy C. Tuchman, PhD, founding dean of the School of Environmental Sustainability (SES), is retiring after dedicating more than three decades to advancing sustainability initiatives at Loyola University Chicago. In May, the University established the Nancy Tuchman Endowed Scholarship to honor her legacy. The endowed scholarship fund will support students in SES in perpetuity. Additional gifts to this fund will expand the scholarship's impact and help launch the careers of future environmental leaders.

Nancy Tuchman has dedicated her career to caring for our shared planet and supporting the education and development of the next generation of environmental change-agents.

Under Dean Tuchman's visionary leadership, Loyola established the Institute of Environmental Sustainability, which evolved into the School of Environmental Sustainability, becoming the first school of its kind at any Jesuit university worldwide. Dean Tuchman was also instrumental in making Loyola a leading institution for environmental sustainability. The University is consistently in the top ten percent of green campuses in the United States, and Loyola's Chicago-area campuses achieved carbon neutrality in 2025.

Please join us in celebrating her retirement and honoring her by making a gift to the Nancy Tuchman Endowed Scholarship.
