Retreat and Ecology Campus (LUREC)

Welcome to 100 acres of prairies, savannas, woodlands, wetlands, and ponds—otherwise known as Loyola University Chicago’s Retreat and Ecology Campus. Located in beautiful Bull Valley near Woodstock, Illinois, LUREC allows individuals to connect intellectually, spiritually and through nature. Serving as a prime location for retreats and academic courses, this center includes:

  • 100 guest rooms
  • A chapel
  • A full-service dining area
  • A meeting space
  • A high ropes course

LUREC now also hosts a student farm supporting both livestock and season crops. Loyola is committed to restoring and maintaining the biodiversity of this campus. LUREC follows a fundamental guiding principle of conservation by reducing, reusing and recycling.

Recent Development History

  • 2009 Resurrection Retreat Center closes its doors
  • 2010 Loyola University Chicago purchases the Resurrection Retreat Center from the Congregation of the Resurrection.
