Community Engagement Report

June 1, 2009

Dear Friends of Loyola University Chicago,

As Chicago’s Jesuit Catholic University, Loyola University is a diverse community seeking God in all things and working to expand knowledge in the service of humanity through learning, justice and faith.  As a key component of Loyola’s mission, faculty, staff, and administrators embrace the idea that in order to provide a transformative educational experience for more than 8,000 undergraduate students, we must open our minds and our hearts to the role we play in the neighborhoods and the City we call home.

Through education and active citizenship, Loyola endeavors for students, alumni, faculty, and administration to embody a personal faith in God, a commitment to academic excellence, service that promotes justice, ethical leadership, and global awareness. For over 140 years, the ten schools and ten administrative divisions of Loyola have worked collaboratively with community groups and organizations to create partnerships that allow for Loyola to champion Ignatian values.

This report outlines programs in which Loyola is engaged with, of and for the neighborhoods of Edgewater, Gold Coast, and Rogers Park as well as the broader Chicago region.  We welcome you to learn about the mission, intention and dedication of Loyola University Chicago.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Clark

Director of Community Relations
