Kate McConell Aug 16, 2018

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Kate McConnell, Senior Director of Research and Assessment with the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AACU).  Her keynote address is entitled, "Reframing Teaching and Learning with Assessment." She will discuss how we can reposition assessment as an integral component of teaching and learning – an almost daily act of good faith in which faculty leverage their expertise to respond to their students’ needs – the entire landscape changes. This session will engage participants in answering the question “How can we value assessment as a key component of teaching and learning” by addressing strategies for measuring student learning, making meaning of the data generated by assessment activities, and determining what – if anything – needs to change based on our assessment work, all with an eye toward reinforcing the connective threads—threads captured in the Ignitian Pedagogy Paradigm—that bind teaching, learning, and assessment together.
