Audrey G. Ratner Endowments

Created with the intention of supporting bright, service-oriented students who are called to act, the Audrey G. Ratner Endowments are the result of a generous gift in honor of Audrey G. Ratner (BSEd ’78), mother of Jennifer N. Pritzker (BA ’79), Founder & President of the TAWANI Foundation. The TAWANI Foundation's commitment includes $3.5 million gift and a challenge to the Loyola community. All gifts in support of the Ratner Endowed Funds made through 2025 will be matched dollar for dollar by the foundation, up to $3.5 million.

Your gift could have twice the impact if you donate to support any of these priority areas below.

The Endowment for Future Teachers Scholarships

The Future Teachers Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to bright, service-oriented undergraduate and graduate students who are called to create a better world through teaching. Echoing Audrey Ratner’s lifelong commitment to education, the fund supports Loyola’s future teachers while they prepare to face the challenges of tomorrow’s classroom. Your gift, matched up to $1 million, will support undergraduate and graduate scholarships for students pursuing a career in education. For the 2022/23 academic year, the Future Teachers Scholarship Endowment supported 19 future teachers.

The Endowment for ROTC Scholarships and Stipends

The Rambler Battalion Army ROTC program provides exceptional training in leadership development, military skills, academics, and physical readiness. Each year the ROTC Scholarship/Stipend Endowment supports a cohort of ROTC students through scholarships and resources, allowing them to focus on their education and ROTC experience. $1 million is available in this match, and your gift will help fund scholarships for active cadets training at Loyola. For the 2022/23 academic year, nine students were supported by the ROTC Scholarship/Stipend Endowment.

The Endowment for Veterans Scholarship and Stipends

The Office of Military Veteran Student Services helps veterans make the successful transition from military service to college life and beyond. While many student veterans receive full tuition support through the Post-9/11 GI Bill, some students have exhausted their benefits or may not meet the requirement of three years of service. Students often make difficult decisions about their academic futures, but through the support from the Veterans Scholarship/Stipend Endowment, Loyola is lowering barriers for these students. Your gift will fund scholarships and residential support to student veterans and will be matched up to $1 million. For the 2022-23 academic year, the Veteran Scholarship/Stipend Endowment supported four students.

The Endowment for the President’s Innovation Fund

The President’s Innovation Fund plays a role in propelling Loyola's mission forward, nurturing a diverse community and pushing the boundaries of knowledge for the betterment of humanity. This essential funding empowers the University to strategically allocate resources, embodying an unwavering commitment to comprehensive growth across our academic landscape. By orchestrating investments in an array of programs and individuals, it cultivates an environment where opportunities flourish, nurturing both personal and collective enrichment. Through initiatives like the President's Innovation Fund, we actively honor the Jesuit ideals of learning, justice, and faith, harmonizing disparate elements into a symphony of progress that resonates with our shared vision, and fostering positive societal transformation.

In 2022, the fund played a pivotal role in supporting projects within the recently established Center for Black Student Excellence. This new Center was launched to foster a greater sense of belonging, access, and opportunities for both Black students and the entire student body at Loyola.

Funds from the Ratner Endowment President’s Innovation Fund have been used to support two projects. First, Loyola hosted the 4th Black Congratulatory Celebration to honor the graduating class during the May 2022 commencement week. Funds also supported the launch of the Rambler Brotherhood Project in 2022-23, a Student Success initiative designed to enhance academic and professional skills and prepare participants to lead extraordinary lives.
