Inclusive Practices in the Retention and Equity of Diverse Faculty

Program Overview

Loyola University Chicago was awarded the NSF ADVANCE grant in July 2021. Over the next three years, Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs, Badia Ahad, will direct a team of people to implement the LUC-INSPIRED program. This program will act as an NSF-funded campus-wide initiative promoting institutional equity with respect to the retention and advancement of women, underrepresented minorities, and women of color faculty in STEM. LUC-INSPIRED is housed within Faculty Affairs, under the Office of the Provost.

NSF ADVANCE is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The program contributes to the foundation’s goal of promoting a diverse and capable science and engineering workforce within higher education. NSF ADVANCE provides grants to support equity and inclusion and to mitigate the systemic factors that create inequities in academic workplaces. Loyola's NSF ADVANCE grant number is 2121654.
